Terra Incognita (Unknown Land), 2023

A series of vessels exploring ideas of decay, the passing of time and a sense of place. Organic additions, oxide powders and matte glazes are combined to create subtle surfaces indicative of the marks and traces left by natural forces.

 

Deliberately ambiguous forms evoke both the natural world and urban landscape, pointing to an (unknown) land in gradual decline. Through Terra Incognita I hope to explore the creative potential of fictional worlds and how, through the lens of fiction, we may find a safe and potentially freeing space to reflect on the state of our current times.
